Plain-language summary: what you see is an informational estimate, not tax or legal advice. Your real paycheck is determined by your employer and may differ. When in doubt, ask your employer or a professional.

1. It is an estimate

WageSignals calculates with the withholding rules published by official sources (the IRS and each state's tax agency) in effect on the date shown next to each result. The result is an approximation, not a guaranteed figure.

2. Under which assumptions

In Quick mode we assume W-2 employment, a single job, filing as single, no dependents and no deductions. Each result states the assumptions applied in your state. If your situation is different, your paycheck will be too.

3. What may not be included

Local city or county taxes (except where stated), health insurance, retirement plans and other deductions from your employer, garnishments, tips, bonuses and adjustments from earlier periods. Your employer knows details we cannot see here: your W-4, your year-to-date earnings and your benefits.

4. It is not advice

WageSignals does not provide tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and using the service does not create a professional relationship with us. We do not decide how much tax you owe or how you should file.

For pay with no withholding, the percentage you choose to set aside is a savings goal you set, not a calculation of what you owe.

5. What to do if it does not match

If your real paycheck does not match the estimate, your employer's figure is the valid one. To resolve questions, check with your employer's payroll department, the IRS or your state's tax agency, or a qualified professional.
